Aim:

 

The aim of this course is to provide students with a basic idea of Information and Communication technologies — especially computers, networking, and telecommunications —ubiquitous in the modern world. 

 

Objective:

 

When students complete this course they will:

 

  1. have a basic understanding of Information and Communication technologies;
  2. understand the importance of IT in the present-day world;
  3. understand how IT can be practically applied, especially in his or her area of interest.

FIT is not restricted to an introduction to computers and networks such as the Internet. It follows the developments of technology through the ages, and provides a broad description of the role of Information and Communication technologies in fields as diverse as medicine, education, governance, business, banking and entertainment.

Foundations of Information Technology is a course for students who have very little knowledge of computers or information technology.

 

It focuses on the various forms of technology available today and explains the role played by computers, the Internet, etc., in everyday life.
