Title: Networking Fundamentals (NF)

 

Aim:

 

  • The basic aim of the course is to make the student feel comfortable about using networks.

 

Objectives:

 

By the end of the course, the student will have a basic understanding of:

 

  • the different types of networks.
  • how computers on a network are connected physically.
  • how data is transmitted over these networks.
  • how network can be managed, and
  • network issues.

 

 

USP:

  • The focus of the course is on the ‘why’ and the ‘when’ of technology-use rather than the ‘what’ technology to use.

 

  • This course does not concentrate merely on the technical nitty-gritty of networking. The focus is on the use of networking technologies, rather than on the technologies themselves.

 

Description:

The course will give the student a basic understanding of how networks are connected and how communication takes place over these networks.

It will also familiarize the student with the ground realities of Net usage in developing countries like India and the alternative technologies like WLL and CORDECT that can be used in these countries

 

The course deals with the physical layout of networks, how information is communicated over these networks, and how network concepts and technologies are actually used for communication within and across organizations.
