Choosing the Universities to Apply to ?
We have created a unique tool that helps all the buyers of
Placementor GRE CDs to apply to the universities that match their
backgrounds perfectly.
This page has a description for using the tool and an
example.
Description
The
University lists
In
the Placementor M.S.-Ph.D CD go to "Right Universities" from the
main menu. There you will see different disciplines,
viz. Aerospace Engineering, Anthropology, Civil Engineering, etc.
Under each stream, we have listed several universities that have
programs in those areas of study. These Universities have
been classified into 4 categories under each discipline.
Category A being the top universities for that stream, Category
B containing the next best and so on.
How
the Universities were categorized
We used
several criteria in order to group the universities in these 4
categories. The ranking of each department, the average GRE scores
of the accepted applicants, the aid offered by the University,
the number of foreign students admitted per year, the market value
of a degree awarded by a School were all taken into consideration
before coming up with the final lists. This is a unique
method, because most top school lists just take the performance
of individual departments and rank them, not the overall criteria
that we have considered.

The
RightUniv page in the users section has a questionnaire that assesses you on all criteria
that count towards your admission and assistantship. Detailed
instructions are available to fill the form. After filling it,
you will be taken to a page that gives you your cumulative score
and a distribution of universities that is appropriate for you.
How best to use the RightUniv tool
Pick Universities
from the 4 categories according to the distribution suggested
by your cumulative score. You have a choice from each category
itself, here you can use individual preference to make the final
choices. You can use this tool a maximum of 4 times. We
advice that you use it once before you start the application process.
The results will help you obtain application forms from those
universities where you stand a very good chance of getting admission.
You should fine tune your selection after you get the scores.

Let
us say, you are a History student and you filled the form
as per the instructions.

Let
us say, your cumulative score is 74%.

The
suggestion table in the results page indicates that you must
choose 10% from category A, 50% from category B, 20% from
category C and 20% from category D.

Now,
open your Placementor M.S.-Ph.D CD and click on the link "Right
Universities" on the main page.

As
you are a history student, click on the link "History" once you are inside "RightUniversities".

You
will see, a table of universities divided into four categories.

According
to the Table on the web site, you should choose 10% from category
A, 50% from category B, 20% from category C and 20% from category
D from the list on the CD.

So,
if you are planning to apply for 10 universities, then you
may choose 1 university from Category A, 5 from category B,
2 from category C and 2 from category D. (The percentages
displayed indicate the of total universities you
propose to apply, from each category.)
This algorithm has been designed after careful research and is bound to improve your chances
of admission greatly.
